In addition to his training as a psychotherapist, Dr. Hyken draws on his experience as an educator and a school administrator when building a treatment strategy.

Dr. Hyken earned a PhD in psychology from Capella University, an Educational Specialist degree from Webster University, an MA in counseling from Saint Louis University, teaching certification from Washington University and a BA in communications and a BS in marketing from Saint Louis University. After working more than fifteen years as a teacher, school counselor, psychological examiner, and school administrator, Dr. Hyken founded Educational + Psychotherapy Services, LLC, and specializes in psychoeducational evaluations, ADHD assessments, individual/family therapy, and educational therapy.

Dr. Hyken is a happily married father of two boys. He enjoys spending time with his family, running, and playing tennis. Russell feels strongly about working with and educating parents to help in the tumultuous child-rearing years. He writes articles for family magazines and is a regular contributor on regional news outlets offering expert advice for how to effectively communicate with your family.

Dr. Russell Hyken, PhD, EdSp, MA, is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC, LPC) licensed in the following states: Missouri, Utah, Idaho, Georgia, Vermont, Montana, North Carolina, Wisconsin and New Mexico with reciprocal rights in additional states. Additionally, Dr. Hyken is a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Missouri Certified School Psychological Examiner and School Counselor.

Julie Hyken is the Educational + Psychotherapy wellness coach. She is passionate about helping her clients achieve a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and exercise. As a trained educator, Julie spent the early part of her career working with high school students and has mentored girls through motivational running programs.

Julie raises two sons with her husband. She finds joy in outdoor activities—running, hiking, and walking with her friends and her dogs. Julie believes there are great benefits to a lifestyle that incorporates mindfulness, talk, and exercise.
