A holistic treatment program that builds strength of mind, body, and spirit.
Outdoor programs, also known as wilderness therapy, are a unique therapeutic alternative.
Wilderness programs, set in beautiful surroundings and far removed from modern daily distractions, are designed to enhance physical and mental health through nature’s challenges. In these programs, troubled teens and young adults will work with trained experts specializing in counseling and “wilderness” therapy. In addition to individual and group therapy, students participate in activities that help them recognize and build their own sense of self-worth as they learn the value of helping others.
Dr. Hyken has extensive knowledge and experience with wilderness programs nationwide. He works with a network of expertly trained, licensed psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors who specialize in wilderness programs to ensure that the best quality care is provided. Dr. Hyken will assist with admissions, interventions, and transportation arrangements, while providing ongoing support during the entire process.
During the course of the program, Dr. Hyken closely monitors his client’s progress. He is one of the only therapeutic consultants in the country who travels to meet with his clients in-program and perform on-site psychoeducational assessments. Dr. Hyken’s coaching services parallel the treatment process; providing support before, during, and after the program placement to help clients achieve their best possible success.
Once a student is released from the wilderness program, Dr. Hyken continues his care by making recommendations for the next phase of treatment, from therapeutic boarding schools to young adult lifestyle programs, therapeutic independent living, coaching, and counseling services.
Dr. Hyken is passionate about the benefits of Wilderness Therapy and the long-term results his clients experience. Dr. Hyken is an independent consultant, working on behalf of the family, and will identify the best program for your loved one.
